hello, everyone! :D it's that time of year again...

a couple years ago, i figured that a friending fest would be an excellent way to keep the Yuletide/obscure fandom love going strong. we all need a little extra holiday cheer, don't we? therefore, if you're interested in meeting people in the same teeny-tiny fandoms, pimping out your own stories for a little extra love, and making new friends for the new year, just comment below with the following!

fandoms: thus far, i've written in HP, Good Omens, Guy Gavriel Kay, His Dark Materials, Robin McKinley, Saiyuki, Kyou Kara Maou, Wild Adapter, Stigma, Shounen Onmyouji, and Tamora Pierce fandoms. i'm also a fan of David Eddings, Diana Wynne Jones, Garth Nix, Gravitation, Loveless, and many, many other things (a fuller list of fandoms can be found here). i'll read anything i know, even vaguely (House, Dexter, Ocean's 11, etc.), and several things i don't (Supernatural, SGA).

Yuletide years: 3! :)

i wrote: this year, i wrote like a whole almond (Wild Adapter) and piece of sky (Stigma).
last year, i wrote Aurora Borealis (His Dark Materials), Flowerfire: Winter's End (Fionavar Tapestry), a tale of first meetings (Damar), Letters from Rajmuat (Tamora Pierce- Tortall series), a solitary blue (Fionavar), and touch (Shounen Onmyouji).
in 2006, which was my first Yuletide, i wrote love, do you remember my name (Fionavar), as well as a gift-fic for Yuletiders in the Fionavar-verse, The Longest Road, which is posted here.

journaling habits: depending on my mood, you'll come across fandom or RL. the RL stuff is under f-lock, but my writing/fandom stuff is public.

hobbies/interests/anything else you'd like to add: i love books (obviously), anything art-and-music related, travel, badminton, tea, and DANCE (ballroom, bhangra, and many other kinds), although most of my flailing on LJ is about the first two things.

fandoms: Way too many to list. My first fandom was the original Star Trek, with which I became obsessed in 1986 at age 12; after that it was the X-Files, then due South, and after that all bets were off. I like action/adventure, a mix of technology and magic, a heaping spoonful of magic realism, and the kind of romance that my buddy [livejournal.com profile] wavyarms describes as "Oh hey, look, over there, that's a feeling! I should maybe do something about that one of these days!" Lately, there's been a lot of bandfic on my to-read list alongside the Stargate: Atlantis and Supernatural and pre-Harry Potter YA bookfic and 80s moviefic. Unsurprisingly, I read a lot of slash. I shied away from RPF until someone directed me to bandom, at which point I capitulated; everything I write winds up being about the day-to-day life of musicians and theater people, so I might as well read fiction in which the authors have done obsessive research about what it's like to be a musician.

Yuletide years: (was this your first Yuletide, or your fourth?) This was my first Yuletide, although I've been reading for a few years.

i wrote: Sonatina For Unaccompanied Minor (http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/65/sonatinafor.html) (Diana Wynne Jones' Archer's Goon for athersgeo.

journaling habits: I have two LJs. [livejournal.com profile] greenlily is for RL stuff--day-to-day activities, stuff I want to remember, survey memes, a lot of stuff about my rehearsals, etc. [livejournal.com profile] missiondoll is for writing. It's where I post my finished stuff, but most of the entries there are for-my-eyes-only WIPs and note files.

hobbies/interests/anything else you'd like to add: My overall hobby is that I collect stories, and use what I collect to study the art and science of storytelling. Sadly, this has not yet made me a particularly good writer; in the same vein, I have almost-perfect pitch, but not enough vocal technique to sing notes as accurately as I hear them. But I sing well enough to get into choir groups where I'm surrounded by more skilled singers I can learn from. And I write well enough to not be afraid to participate in the occasional fiction community where I get amazingly helpful feedback. I can live with that. :)
