hello, everyone! :D it's that time of year again...
a couple years ago, i figured that a friending fest would be an excellent way to keep the Yuletide/obscure fandom love going strong. we all need a little extra holiday cheer, don't we? therefore, if you're interested in meeting people in the same teeny-tiny fandoms, pimping out your own stories for a little extra love, and making new friends for the new year, just comment below with the following!

fandoms: thus far, i've written in HP, Good Omens, Guy Gavriel Kay, His Dark Materials, Robin McKinley, Saiyuki, Kyou Kara Maou, Wild Adapter, Stigma, Shounen Onmyouji, and Tamora Pierce fandoms. i'm also a fan of David Eddings, Diana Wynne Jones, Garth Nix, Gravitation, Loveless, and many, many other things (a fuller list of fandoms can be found here). i'll read anything i know, even vaguely (House, Dexter, Ocean's 11, etc.), and several things i don't (Supernatural, SGA).
Yuletide years: 3! :)
i wrote: this year, i wrote like a whole almond (Wild Adapter) and piece of sky (Stigma).
last year, i wrote Aurora Borealis (His Dark Materials), Flowerfire: Winter's End (Fionavar Tapestry), a tale of first meetings (Damar), Letters from Rajmuat (Tamora Pierce- Tortall series), a solitary blue (Fionavar), and touch (Shounen Onmyouji).
in 2006, which was my first Yuletide, i wrote love, do you remember my name (Fionavar), as well as a gift-fic for Yuletiders in the Fionavar-verse, The Longest Road, which is posted here.
journaling habits: depending on my mood, you'll come across fandom or RL. the RL stuff is under f-lock, but my writing/fandom stuff is public.
hobbies/interests/anything else you'd like to add: i love books (obviously), anything art-and-music related, travel, badminton, tea, and DANCE (ballroom, bhangra, and many other kinds), although most of my flailing on LJ is about the first two things.

Journaling habits: I post somewhat erratically on my LJ, mostly about my life and the world. I have a fic journal, but haven't posted much to it yet. Something to remedy this year!
Hobbies/interests/anything else you'd like to add: Huge movie buff. I love music and I love to sing. I love to read, mostly mysteries and fantasy, but also books on the arts and costume history. I'm a costume historian, specializing in the 19th century, and I'm a complete aesthete. I watch lots of TV. I love to dance.

Date: 2009-01-02 11:54 pm (UTC)Hi, we seem to have lots of fandom interests in common (Nero Wolfe! Highlander!), and I love costumes (Tudor through 18th Century for preference but I'm fascinated by all). I don't write, and but I tend to paint historical AUs, as an excuse to research historical clothes, (or just look at pretty pictures, really *g*)

Date: 2009-01-03 12:27 am (UTC)Anyway, I did my degree in Victorian artistic dress (you know, Pre-Raphaelite stuff), but I love all periods of women's dress, except possibly those ridiculously wide stiff panniered dresses from the mid-18th century, the ones where the skirts look like the back of Aunt Nancy's couch!
I love looking at pretty pictures too, and I don't even need an excuse. I also have a blog Victorian Bohemia (http://victorianbohemia.blogspot.com), which I should be updating more regularly, but it is at least the beginnings of something I really want to spend more time with this year.
I've done Renaissance Faires locally here in Vermont, and also am a member of the SCA, though we no longer have a shire here. My friends and I go down and play with one of the Massachusetts groups, though, so I get to wear my beautiful Italian Renaissance gown that my dear friend V made me. She's a wonderful seamstress, I seem to stop at designing them. I'm a terrible seamstress.
So yay, new costume history buff on my flist! Woohoo!

Date: 2009-01-03 12:32 am (UTC)This makes me hope even more that you'd possibly consider doing some Wolfe art for my partner. She'd be over the moon! I can give you some pictures of actors to base the characters on. The A&E pairing was good, but I think I might be able to find actors who are even closer to the book's description.

Date: 2009-01-03 12:54 am (UTC)Wow! The funny coincidence, is that I DO know Parhelion (Lija, yes?). I shamelessly fangirled all her NW fic and even briefly corresponded years ago, before I got this livejournal. I'm completely crap as a correspondant, so I lost track of her, but I loved her NW yuletide fic this year (I should have recognised her writing *g*)
I can't guarantee a painting - I'm painting whatever strikes me, (its a bit of stress relief from work) - but an NW painting (or the Roman AU, maybe?) WOULD be fun to do *g* I'll think about it!
I love the Pre-Raphaelites. My Dad is a huge fan, and I have several Waterhouse paintings on my walls at home(among others). I'm ex-SCA (Tudor Elizabethan persona, or really whatever era I could make pretty gowns for *g*)and my seamstress abilities never quite lived up to the things I wanted to do.

Date: 2009-01-03 04:05 am (UTC)Yeah, she forgets how popular her stuff is, sometimes. I liked her NW fic this year, too, and she just did another 1000 word fic (Nero/Archie) for a challenge. I'll let you know where it's posted when it comes up.
Oh, and I just posted some of my fanfic on my fic journal,
Yeah, my persona in the SCA is supposed to be 16th century Scottish (SCA name: Elspeth Gowanie), but I prefer Italian Ren, it looks better on my body the way it's shaped right now, high waists disguise a number of sins.
I'm a big Waterhouse fan, as well as Millais and Rossetti (see icon!) and I am a particular fan of the women who painted in the same period. Being a big Aesthetic dress nut, I love people like Jane Morris and Lizzie Siddal, and also Ellen Terry and Constance Wilde. I did my thesis on Bohemian dress in England from the mid-19th century to the early 20th, so I could include the crazy Bloomsbury crowd, etc.
Have you done any paintings of Doctor 10 and Rose? Since I love your Nine and Rose so much, I'd love to see any you might have done of Ten and Rose.

Date: 2009-01-03 08:49 am (UTC)I haven't painted Ten, but I'd love to. He has such an interesting mobile, expressive face.

Date: 2009-01-03 08:55 am (UTC)Great icon BTW, that's from Timeless, isn't it? It's time to rewatch my Highlander stuff again. I reread my Highlander hetfic and was, like, "Oooh, Methos! Oooh, Amanda!" So I think it's time! ;)
