In other news, I have been watching some (more) Devil May Cry recently, and now the intro song has been stuck in my head for two weeks. Apparently I really do need to rethink my genre preferences, if horror and/or Things with Demons and Other Monsters of Interest* are going to be a continuing theme with me!

*Qualifier because... I really don't know what the appropriate category for "Dante fights demons and also eats pizza and strawberry sundaes and is generally grumpy and ridiculous" is, but it's not horror to me! xD

Oooh, where are you watching Devil May Cry at? I was thinking about adding it to Netflix but I never really played the games. XD

It's on Funimation! :D (Which... apparently for some reason is included in my parents' cable package, so I suffered through a few dubs on TV before I found the subs on their website, THANK GOD.)

I never played the games either, so I have no reference for comparison, but I have heard the game version is more fun? *shrug*

Hahaha, are the dubs very bad? I may have to go ahead and watch it on the Funimation website too, since I think Netflix offers subs for only some of it's selection.

Weeeeell, the dubs don't make me name-cringe, but that's a function of them being, you know, Western names. *g* Take that with a grain of salt, though- I have a lot of hang-ups about Western voice-acting when it comes to pretty much any animation outside of Disney and Pixar, because for those I at least know what to expect. Even with A:TLA it took me a while to get accustomed to the lack of... subtlety? That and all the names that I was pronouncing differently in my head, but eh. xD

The game version is more fun and Dante is more of a ridiculous cornball in them. I feel like the anime didn't quite capture his ridiculousness to the proper extent.

Granted, he's being an emobot in the fifth game which is totally failtastic but whatever. They handed over the game development to an American company who didn't like the "Japanese-ness" of the original game. (Oh noez! A Japanese game being Japanese! The over the top nature of DMC is why it's beloved.)

Yay, linkspam! Thanks for the link to the Hunger Games casting, specifically, and the Red Riding Hood hilarity (I saw it, and zomg, it was so awesomely bad!).
