I know, I know, I still have a help_haiti fic to be completed (BECKY I AM SO SORRY ;;), but! I am exponentially quicker about Avatar things than any other fandom at the moment, so.

Also, finally caving due to boredom: Ask me my Top Five Whatevers. Fannish or literary or otherwise. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! Fandoms, ice cream flavours, cartoon moments, women in my fandoms, OTPs, ideal holiday destinations, goals for the future, celebrity crushes, books I wish would be made into movies, love songs. 1. Katara! She's strong and moral and always takes care of people, and she has the biggest damn heart in the world. Also, she's got enough empathy to manipulate anybody she damn well pleases (even without the bloodbending), but enough compassion that she never will.

2. Azula, probably my favorite villain ever. I love that she's got such interesting cracks beneath the layers of scary competence and sociopathy, that somewhere deep down, she's still very much a little girl looking for her parents' love and approval- and that she's so terribly good at everything she does that it takes us until S3 to see it.

3. Tooooooph. Everything I love about her can be summed up with that Paper Planes vid: snarky grumpy fun-loving scam-running METALBENDING BADASS in a little girl's skin FTW! (How's that for a positive portrayal of a disabled character? *g*)

4. Mai! Another snarky grump, hahaha- apparently this is a type for me! I love that she follows the rules not because she's scared, but because it's easier to not make waves and let people underestimate her until she proves that she's not so easily malleable. I also love that she can be exactly who she wants to be with Azula and Ty Lee, and that she has Zuko wrapped around her little finger and they are nauseatingly awkwardly cute together, n'aww.

5. Suki! I love that she takes no shit from anyone, and that she thrives on her sisterhood with the Kyoshi Warriors; I love that she doesn't just stop saving the world after the Fire Nation soldiers leave Kyoshi Island; I love that Sokka has to earn her respect, and that she saves him more often than he saves her.

This show sounds absolutely fantastic. And I LOVE Toph. I mean, a snarky, grumpy, scam-running, badass metalbender--who is not only a little girl, but blind to boot? Do you know how rarely disabled people are portrayed as snarky? Or tough? Or shrewd? I want to hug this show!
