Oh, I agree! I think the character-foregrounding was pretty awesome, though, or at least an excellent distraction from the places the series didn't actually explore.
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Shibasaki/Iku! But since I also like Shibasaki/Tezuka and Iku/Doujou and possibly Doujou/Komaki, PUPPY PILE is my inevitable conclusion. xD
