There's really nothing I can add to what's said/linked there, except possibly a RAGE WARNING for the quoted letter/"advice" (printed in the New York Times, ugh >:|).
Not remotely comparable, via various people in my circle: Rhetorically Constructed, or: We All Write Like White Men. You know, while I may not have words for the larger issues, I can at least stand up in the face of the smaller ones. Yes, this is "just" an internet meme, but a whole lot of other chromatic/minority experiences seem to be "just" ours, too- voices, stories, histories unremembered and unacknowledged. Someday when I have enough stillness in me to say slightly-less-inadequate things, I will need to write... but until then, some more linkspam:
