comfort food

Hah, I've already missed posting on the first day of December, go figure. /o\ Anyway! whymzycal asked me to write about my favorite comfort food today. If you know me you know it's hard for me to pick singular favorite anything, but my top three are probably xi fan, soy sauce eggs, and chicken soup (aka homemade broth, heh). There's a significant overlap in my mind between comfort food and food I eat when I'm feeling sick, for obvious reasons... Seasonal (and non-disease-associated) comfort foods include ramen, hot spiced apple cider, and my recently-repeated hot chocolate experiment.

What are your comfort foods? Does anyone else have seasonal craving shifts???

Weather shifts for sure. Around late October, I start wanting warm, heavy comfort foods, casseroles with cheese and potatoes, things like that. Also, hot chocolate with real whipped cream and peppermint. Which I actually drink year round, when I want hot chocolate, but feels even more special in the winter.

Ooh, those all sound very comfort-food delicious! Nom!

I think my favorite seasonal comfort food is probably eggnog pancakes, but in general, it's matzoh ball soup. So much delicious!

Your hot chocolate experiment must be amazing. I wonder how it would taste converted into something like a cupcake or brownie form...

I will! And I will share the recipe! (It'll probably happen in a couple of weeks, when the term is over, and I am pretty sure that the first incarnation will be gooey brownies with a spicy chocolate ganache frosting and some delicious bits mixed in. And then? I SHALL TACKLE LAVA CAKES! \o/)

A lot of my comfort foods tend to be Filipino dishes or ice cream (ice cream totally counts as a food).
