This weekend ended up as an unintended A:TLA marathon, because my dad was curious and started watching, and I am apparently as incapable of watching just one/a reasonable number of eps as he is! (Seriously, we're talking Friday night straight through Saturday here- the self-control thing, um, runs in the family? /o\)

THEREFORE. I declare trick-or-treat promptfest! Have at it, guys, I am SO ready for more. :D

I'm in the middle of a rewatch myself! It's been going all weekend!

IT IS AMAZING AND YET KIND OF TERRIBLE, because I just watched the last five today and went DDD: and :DDD and... wanted to start all over again!

Also: favorite characters/eps? ;)

Well, my favorite character is Sokka. I love him in "Sokka's Master" and in "The Fortuneteller".
After Sokka, I love Appa, and "Appa's Lost Days" never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

"Tales from Ba Sing Se" is one of my very favorites, too, with great Sokka moments, touching Toph-Katara bonding, and beautiful development for Iroh and Zuko.

I also like Mai and Ty Lee, especially in flashbacks, and in "The Boiling Rock", "The Beach" and "The Crossroads of Destiny".

From a general drama standpoint, I really like "The Avatar and the Fire Lord" as well, great storytelling and fun with a young Roku and Sozun. :)

"Ow, ow, ow," Sokka groans as he sinks into the spring.

Zuko cracks an eye. "What? Did I overheat the water?"

"No, the water's great. I just spent three weeks rebuilding with the Water Tribe fleet, and now my everything hurts."

Zuko lets his head drop back against the warm stone. "Mm. That's rough, buddy."

Sokka lifts a disgruntled eyebrow. "Well, what have you been up to, Sifu Hotman?"

"What is with this Sifu Hotman business? It's Fire Lord, that can't be so hard to remember," Zuko grumbles. "Anyway, it's the same old story: my ministers are trying to kill me with paperwork, my generals are trying to kill me with stubbornness, and my diplomats are trying to kill me with council meetings. Not all of them, of course, but enough that Mai won't let me out of her sight."

"Sounds like... fun," Sokka says. "Also, Mai has the right idea, seriously. You need a keeper."

Zuko slumps. "Thanks for the vote of confidence."

The earth rumbles suddenly, and Sokka yelps as Toph emerges from the rock beside them. "Man, Zuko, your uncle really knows how to live the life."

"Toph!"

"What? I'm in the water, you can't possibly see anything."

"But- but-"

Toph flicks a pebble at Sokka's head. "Relax, ponytail, it's not like I can look."

"Where did you even come from, anyway?"

"I've been practicing with King Bumi. Did you know he can practically bend the entire city of Omashu? We finished repairing the outer wall in three days! The mail delivery system took a little longer though, and we're still working on the residential areas."

Sokka's jaw sags.

"I'm, uh. Sorry?" says Zuko.

"What for?" Toph grins. "I'm having the time of my life! I need a little break, but I can't wait to go back."

Sokka blinks at Zuko. Zuko blinks back. "Okay, Toph," he says, "you win."

"Yeah, I know."

"Can't we just, you know, dress as we normally do?" Aang asked, tugging at his collar uncomfortably.

Zuko eyed him over Mai's head. "This is how I normally dress these days."

Aang looked at the seemingly endless folds of heavy red and black and gold-stitched cloth and shuddered. "So glad I'm not the Fire Lord."

"Me too," said Mai, rolling her eyes. "Arms up, Zuko, I need to tie this."

"Sorry."

Mai tugged the sash into place and straightened. "Right. And today you're talking to?"

"The Zhou family and the Chiang family," Aang recited dutifully. "Together they control most of the ironworking facilities in the Fire Nation."

"And they've expanded into the Earth Kingdom," Zuko sighed, "which is why King Bumi's envoys won't be pleased to deal with them."

"Exactly," said Mai. "The envoys?"

"Well, we've got Toph," said Aang.

"Yeah, but she's not exactly established in Omashu. It's part of the reason why she's here; she's been traveling the Earth Kingdom for months."

"Yes, yes," Mai said impatiently. "I meant the other two."

"Representatives of the Zhu family and the Huang family- the second daughter and the eldest son, respectively. The Zhu family was in the mining industry before our troops invaded, and the Huang family-" Zuko frowned.

Mai waited, one eyebrow slowly creeping upward.

"The Huang family owned a refinery, didn't they?" said Aang.

"We took over their resources to speed the production of replacement parts for our tanks," Mai replied. "Our troops, I mean- it was one of the missions Azula delegated, since she needed me and Ty Lee at Ba Sing Se."

"... what would we do without you?" said Zuko.

"Bumble around a lot?"

"You make it sound like we haven't bumbled around already," Aang muttered. Zuko made a face.

Mai shrugged unsympathetically. "You're the Avatar and Zuko's the Fire Lord; it's not as if you don't have backup. You'll figure it out. Now get going, you have two minutes until the meeting starts."
