I don't know what to say, Y. I appreciated the generosity and professionalism of both Obama's and Clinton's speeches just now, but I can't help thinking that the Republicans haven't been very generous or professional these past eight years, and now they have the White House, the Senate, the House, and the Supreme Court, and I wonder what's to come. Yes, this. Also, I'm feeling so much sympathy for my masters cohort right now. The public health system is about to become a trash fire the likes of which I can't imagine. :(

It's been pretty shitty, and I'm not even an American. I just live here, and have a life here, and pay taxes. /half bitter But the wheel turns and life will go on.

It makes me want to come home and join all my friends who are out there, doing the work in the face of everything. But I chose grad school, and so I will do my work and hope that I can shape it into usefulness.

So much news, it's hard to stay afloat. Protests going and at the same time, Nazi-related Trump graffiti less than 24 hours after the results were called. I'm dancing to cope tonight.

I'm tapping a deeper well of stubborn than I knew, apparently. It's surreal. The last time I remember feeling like this was on 9/11, except that I have more reserves now than I did then and feel less able to afford the time to cry. The thing that hurts most is not being home to do the work and be there for the amazing friends who are doing the work in the face of everything.

I'm mostly numb and devastated. I had about 3 hours of sleep so the main focus was staying awake through work then class and making sure I made myself eat.

It's been a long day. And only one of many.

I'm mostly stunned at this point, I think I am a bit immune from terrifiedness from being over here (but then I find Trump as a leader definitely someone who could impact my safety over here, so!). But it'll happen, I'm sure.

I feel really powerless -- not just in terms of affecting things at home, but even over here (11 European elections next year! 11 waves of populism to fight, & how can I help the ppl fighting that good fight when I'm not French/Austrian/etc.?).

*hugs* Yeah, I either went through multiple emotional adjustment stages lightning-fast or immediately buried most of my feelings under what needs to be done. Can't quite tell yet. Being outside the country is making me feel incredibly impotent, which is demoralizing, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do beyond signal-boosting and checking in with people.
