announcing: Potluck!
Thanks to several posts (including but not limited to
deepad's Doodh se Dhuli,
vi's gross, weird, inedible, and
troisroyaumes's Seven things),
yiduiqie and I were inspired to start an ongoing food carnival! We are happy to announce a call for submissions for the first Potluck, as well as suggestions for themes and volunteers for future hosts.
Potluck is intended to be a carnival for multicultural and intersectional discussions of food. There are no real limits on theme; however, the focus of the carnival is on thoughts and experiences around food through various topics that you might see around the social justice blogosphere, including but not limited to food discussions intersecting with disability, gender, sexuality, fat, animal rights and of course cultural and racial issues. We welcome you to share your recipes as well as your thoughts and experiences, but we ask that you do not submit posts with recipes only. eta; Submissions can be in any format you choose- essays, personal anecdotes, art, comics, etc.- so long as they meet the previous requirements./eta
The theme for the first edition, which I will be hosting here, is holidays. Submissions can range from those holidays you might be celebrating approximately nowish, such as Christmas, Lunar New Year, and Hannukah, or recently celebrated, like Eid al-Adha, or any other holidays you observe throughout the year. You can leave submissions in the comments of this post, or drop me a line at glass_icarus AT dreamwidth DOT org.
Please feel free to submit links to your own posts or to someone else's. You may submit multiple links. Links will be included at the discretion of the host. This carnival is not DW/LJ specific; we welcome anyone to participate from other blogging platforms. The deadline for submissions for the first edition of Potluck is JANUARY 21, 2011.

Each edition is going to be a one-time link roundup, but there's nothing to stop you from trying any recipes people might share and posting about them later on, or to discuss in the comments of the linked posts.

I'm also curious to see if previous posts of mine would fit the bill. I did some food related posts during 3 Weeks for Dreamwidth and was wondering if such posts would fit what you were looking for. If you have the time and inclination, they are over here. I don't wan't to resubmit them, but it would give me an idea as to whether I need to rethink my approach for Potluck.
