Guys, Kaleidoscope's current nominations list gives me a bigger grinny face every time I look at it! I am SO EXCITED, thanks so much to everyone who's nominated/promoted/volunteered/helped spread the word thus far. Also, &hearts to dharmavati, troisroyaumes, and wistfuljane! &Team Darkness;;;

On a personal note, though: dear circle, please rec me some more non-East-Asian fandoms! Of course I am all excite about the East Asian movies/shows/dramas/anime/manga series/etc. that people have already nominated, but I am uncomfortable with spending my nomination slots on East Asian sources that someone else will probably come up with anyway and would instead prefer to boost some underrepresented groups that deserve love.

So, revamping from my previous ideas, my current consideration list looks like this:
- Janelle Monae's albums (NEED MOAR CINDI MAYWEATHER FIC!)
- Karen Lord, Redemption in Indigo
- Witi Ihimaera, Whale Rider
- Louise Erdrich, The Birchbark House

I haven't decided whether or not I want to reserve a slot for Sarai-ya Goyou (or perhaps Hiromi Goto's Half World? or Samurai 7?), but either way, I have at least two definite openings for non-East-Asian stuff! Anything you'd particularly like to see? Anything short-ish that you think I should watch or read (since I'd prefer to nominate things I can, you know, actually offer)?

Um, I have a slot reserved for Rizal's Noli & Fili anyway, so that's fine -- otherwise that's what I would rec! I wish I could rec you Arnold Arre's The Mythology Class, it's a lovely comic (well, it has its issues! but still!) but I'm not sure it's available there. :/

They're pretty heavy books, so I kind of feel guilty when I rec them to people. But not very! Because they're really rather brilliant.

Oh gosh, the Mythology Class! Yes, so much goodness in it -- but oh YES issues. ;_; It's not available in the US though I have a copy (back home) -- there's this awesome bookseller in Hawaii who will import stuff from the Philippines for you. I ordered from them once & then in a few weeks got an e-mail saying that she was going to the Philippines soon & was there anything I wanted her to look out for?

(glass_icarus, I am going to nominate Chak De! India, which I would've otherwise recced to you! That & Tumbling & not sure about the third -- so if you do nominate Half World please let me know, heh.)

Am thinking about Half World, but at the moment it's more of a toss-up between Samurai 7 (see also: FIC ABOUT RICE!!!) and Sarai-ya Goyou? :x SO HARD OMG.
